Beat The Heat : why a heatwave massage may be just what your body needs

Summer has finally arrived in full force, but we are enjoying some chill in our beautiful new Studios. Our home at 10 Charlotte Road in Shoreditch was designed entirely with comfort in mind, and so our high ceilings, concrete floors and natural, breathable linens make the perfect companion for a good, unpredictable, British Summer.

In this unrelenting heatwave though, we’re going the extra mile - with a powerful fan and an air purifier in each of our rooms, to ensure that you - and our therapists - stay cool and fresh throughout your time with us.

STRESS BUSTING

Massage is proven to relieve stress, which can pile up thick and fast when you’re trying to navigate a hot and crowded city! During extreme temperatures it’s extra important to take some time to look after your body and mind. If you suffer from tension headaches - which can be exacerbated by the weather - then a relaxing treatment at MASAJ may be the perfect aid.

REDUCE SWELLING

Heat and humidity can often lead to swelling, especially in limbs and joints, and a good massage can help to increase blood flow and circulation - dispersing any buildups of fluid in the body, reducing swelling and making you feel a whole lot more comfortable.

Our top tips to make your summertime massage even more enjoyable?

- Hydrate, hydrate... and then hydrate some more. Drink water before, after and even during your treatment with us to feel the full benefits of a Summer 'Saj.

- Consider visiting us in the cooler hours - we're open 8am - 9.30pm, seven days per week - so if you're extra sensitive to the heat then consider visiting us early or late in the day so that you can travel to and from our Studios more comfortably.

- Chose a cooling, refreshing oil for your treatment, like Sup - packed full of peppermint, basil, lime and bergamot. This will help you to feel fresh and cool while smelling delightful too. Just be sure to wipe any excess oil off before you go sunbathing, as any oil-based products will increase the chances of sunburn.
