No.4 Sports Massage
Assess + Manipulate
Our specialised sports massage therapy treatment is a staple component of our active/ sporty guests’ training and recuperation regimes.
There are countless benefits of sports massage. Many of our sport-loving guests rely on these regular massage treatment sessions (either between training sessions or during rehab whilst recovering from injury) to treat overworked muscle groups, improve flexibility, aid circulation and lymph flow, and generally boost wellbeing, so the body heals faster.
Whether you’re an avid athlete who revels in pushing your body to the limit or have a physically demanding job, our No 4 treatment offers a dynamic, targeted massage treatment for problem areas. Our specialised sports massage will help relax your muscles, ease tension, fight fatigue, relieve swelling and prevent or relieve delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS).
Many athletes believe that regular back, neck and shoulder massage, massage for back pain, deep-tissue massage for lower back pain and other specialised sport massage treatments are essential to any successful training programme.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Sports massage is specifically tailored to different sports or sporting injuries. It is rehabilitative and recuperative. It’s not a relaxing massage and may be quite interactive and strenuous. It works by stretching tight muscles, stimulating inactive muscles, and improving the condition of the soft tissue.
-
Yes, only a qualified sports massage therapist is trained to perform this specialised treatment. Our team will match your specific needs with the correct therapist.
-
Sports massage utilises a variety of pressure, often more focused and deeper than conventional massage. It’s effective in speeding up an athlete’s recovery time, assists with sore muscles, and aids in injury prevention.
-
This is entirely up to you and depends on your training schedule, the type of rehab required or the nature of the injury/ focus area. Our expert therapist will work closely with you to assess and determine the best treatment plan for your requirements.
-
If you want this specific massage to work to its full potential, you should allow us to see the muscles or area to target. We can then judge the course of treatment by assessing and accessing the muscles to massage and treat them. You may also feel sore or tender after the massage, so loose clothing will be more comfortable.
-
A sports massage is not designed to pamper and relax you. Whereas sports massage is often prescribed by doctors who treat muscle strain as part of a rehabilitation programme or sports-related injuries, deep-tissue massage is for anybody wanting to relieve tension, stress, or strain through massage therapy.
-
A sports massage can leave you feeling a little sore or tired afterwards, so go easy on yourself after the treatment.
-
Sports massage can help prevent future injuries, relieve existing injuries, maintain biomechanical balance and function, support performance, enhance pain-free everyday movement and boost mood and stamina.
-
We encourage our guests to discuss their requirements and schedules with our qualified sports therapist. We’ll happily work around any training commitments or accommodate sporting events into our treatment regimes.
